There doesn't seem to be anyone on this group.
Oh well, ...

My fav panda is actually one of the Shirt Tales gange from the Hanna Barbera
cartoon of the 80's. Yeah I know, she's a cartoon and not real giant panda,
so what.

In college, I spent alot of time studying the Woolong pandas. Wish I could
go there to see them. Again, Oh well.

Still, I can't get enough of them. I always look for articles on the
internet, and pics too. (Which is how I came to be here) Granted, I like
teddy bears also, but I won't make it out that I will expect the REAL
animals to behave like cartoons! That's deadly DUMB.

I'll check back into this newsgroup to see if anything happens later.

It is no secret (nor should it come as any surprise) that humankind's most noble impulses often surface during the most tyring of times, that human spirit rises to the challenge when faced with adversity, that human strength is born from human failings...Is it any wonder, then, that the SDF-1 crew became a tighter family after the fortress had been exiled than it had been before?

Hey, that worked!
Somebody is actually on this besides me. Hi!
Are you just passing through Steve, or do you keep tabs on this group?
I actually kinda like it here, the alt.animals.bear(s) groups are just full
of sh*t, just porn and wierd ones. I'm sorry that I even found those places.

I'll just stick around again, maybe there are more people who show up here.

I keep tabs on this room but I rarely see anything but the occassioal spam post.
Maybe now that people see there are real panda lovers here they'll return.

Kool. Every so often I switch from the helpdesk groups just to see if there
is activity. I'm glad there is here now.

Well, what about the Panda do you like/interest?
I tend to appreciate the surrounding environments of the different speicies
of bears in general. Though the pandas are still somewhat of a debatable
animal than the bear, I like to see them as one.

I do not understand why you think Panda's are debatable?

Possibly just from outdated info from my college days, I guess. Then was the
debate about the Giant Panda, the Red Panda, and their DNA comparisons to
the spiecies of the Ursidae.

I really didn't want to get involved with waring "eco-groups" of the times.
I just liked the pandas alot, and wanted to know more about them.

("You were referred by: Margaret Penty") is somewhat another reason I got
annoyed at the then panda-craze, there are always people who just smell
profits. I am NOT infering that this Margaret Penty, or that site, is only
to draw a buck. I've just been burned a few times by low-lifes on (profit)
crusades.

It is a very nice site by the way. Thanx.

When I was in colege, 1986, I bought a book by Dr. Shallenger (sp?) doing
research in Wolong Province. It really apealed to me because of the details
of flora they were also studying there. That caught my attention, since my
first career of 20 years had been agricultural. (Yes, a bit more than just
cutting lawns. Master Gardener, and all that.) I also had been a mineral
prospector in the Pacific Northwest states (USA & Canada).

I hope Steve was right about the "panda lovers returning", I would like
that. I don't like to get involved with argumentative discussions, or
spamming. I just like to talk, maybe get new friends and learning along the
way.

Yeah, I really miss them. But time marches on, as they say... :(
I couldn't find any Red Panda Cams, but I did find four in the US. My
computer isn't very good, so I can't watch them long (or more than one at a
time). I'm sure there are others in China and Europe somewhere.

Mei Xiang and Tian Tian at the National Zoo, on a ten-year loan from China.
http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/default.cfm?cam=LP1

The San Diego Zoo's Conservation and Research for Endangered Species.
Gao Gao, Bai Yun and cub Mei Sheng. (Hua Mie left for China last year)
http://www.sandiegozoo.org/pandas/pandacam/

Lun Lun (Hua Hua) and Yang Yang (Jiu Jiu) at Atlanta Fulton County Zoo.
http://www.zooatlanta.org/site/the_animals/exhibits/panda_cam.html

Le Le and Ya Ya at the Memphis Zoo. (Very slow website load)
http://www.memphiszoo.org/panda_cam.html

I especially liked the San Diego site, lots of research info. So the
egg-heads finally decided to place the pandas in with the bears, wonder how
long that's going to last THIS time? ;)
